Why Auburn Engineering?

Jasmyne – My love for Auburn began at a young age. In middle school and high school, I came to Auburn for cheer competitions and I fell in love with the campus. After visiting Auburn, I knew that Auburn was the college for me. Why Auburn Engineering? My aunt and godmother was also an Auburn Engineering graduate. Although she passed away when I was younger, she made a major impact on my life. I always looked up to her and wanted to follow in her footsteps at Auburn University.

Devante – In middle school, my football coach's favorite college team was Auburn University. After achieving a certain academic status, my coach took me and a few of my teammates to Auburn to watch a game. From then on, I was always interested in attending college at Auburn. Once I made the decision that I wanted to be an engineer, I attended an E-Day with my friend and our parents, and from then on, I was set on becoming an Auburn Engineer!

How did you meet? If you met on campus, could you tell us your Auburn story?

Jasmyne - We met on campus at Chick-fil-A through a mutual friend! Chick-Fil-A remains as my favorite places to grab a quick bite to eat.

Devante - After having a mutual friend vouch for me, we went on a few dates and now we are here!

Where are you now? Tell us about your engineering journey after graduation!

Jasmyne – I currently work as a management engineer at Emory Healthcare! I enjoy being able to combine my passion for helping others with my love for process improvement and industrial engineering. I am a Georgia Realtor and I am also working to obtain my Masters of Business Administration which I hope to complete in 2022. Lastly, I am preparing to become a first time mom as Devante and I are expecting our first child, a baby boy named Dion Carter in early March.

Devante – I currently work as a regional engineering manager at Georgia-Pacific. I started with GP as a co-op in the Pulp and Paper industry in 2011. I went on to be a full time project engineer for GP in 2015. In 2018, I joined the Building Products Division at the corporate level and have recently transitioned into my current position. I, too, am working to obtain my Masters of Business Administration and will be graduating this May. In 2018 I also started my own non-profit organization, The M3 Foundation. I am very excited for my new role that is fast approaching, which is becoming a father!
