Pavement Specialist (design, construction, and maintenance)
Provide consulting and training services in the following areas of flexible pavements:
- Asphalt binders (including polymer modified), aggregates, and mixtures
- Asphalt mix design (Marshall and Superpave)
- Special asphalt mixtures (SMA and friction course)
- Asphalt pavement construction
- Asphalt pavement recycling (hot and cold), rehabilitation, and maintenance
- Trouble-shooting during or after construction
- Research in asphalt materials, mix design, construction, and maintenance
Consulting and training services have been provided to various clients in the U.S., South America, Australia, India, Japan, Peoples Republic of China, Vietnam, Singapore, and Middle East.

Associate Director Emeritus, National Center for Asphalt Technology
at Auburn University
- Served as member of the Graduate Faculty of Civil Engineering at Auburn University.
- Co-authored the first-ever textbook on asphalt technology, Hot Mix
Asphalt Materials, Mixture Design and Construction
- Editor, "Flexible Pavement Rehabilitation and Maintenance," ASTM, 1998.
- Advise state departments of transportation, contractors, and consultants in asphalt
technology area.
- Serve as an instructor for asphalt technology courses (including Superpave)
intended for government and industry engineers.
- Developed and taught a two-day course on pavement recycling (including hot and
cold in-place, and full depth reclamation) for the U.S. Federal Highway
Administration.
- Conduct research in asphalt technology at the national level.
1970-1988
Chief Asphalt Engineer, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
- Developed statewide standards for asphalt materials, mix design, and
construction.
- Advise materials and construction personnel statewide to resolve complex
problems in the field related to asphalt pavements.
