Complete three required courses (nine hours) and seven technical electives (21 hours) from a list of department-prescribed courses related to AI and its subareas. These electives may include 3 credit hours of directed studies (COMP 7930) and/or three credit hours of a capstone engineering project (COMP 7980).

Why this degree?

The Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence Engineering program, offered through the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering, is available online and on campus (pending approval). The field of artificial intelligence (AI) has evolved into a fast-growing and demanding field, with organizations across many industries seeking to adopt new AI technologies such as machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, and robotics. Over the last few years, jobs involving these technologies have jumped by almost 75 percent. This program aims at training students in the skills required to engineer high-quality solutions to AI and machine-learning problems.

Who is eligible?

Those who hold a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or another STEM discipline from an institute of recognized standing (transcripts required) are eligible to apply. Exceptions may be approved if the student has the necessary background in programming, computing, and mathematics to succeed in the graduate engineering courses.

What can you expect?
