The Department of Mechanical Engineering will begin offering Introduction to Biomechanical Engineering (MECH 6330) in spring 2025. Taught by Michael Zabala, the goals of the graduate online course are to highlight the elegance and efficacy of the human body’s mechanical form, to teach application of engineering principles to biological systems, and to introduce practical tools and methods used in the study of biomechanics.
Topics covered will include human musculoskeletal physiology and anatomy, mechanics of biological materials, biomechanically relevant rigid body dynamics, engineering of technology and applications to biomechanical systems, medical imaging technology, and applications of biomechanical engineering study.
Students from all engineering disciplines are welcome to register for the course; however, they should have some prevoius knowledge of statics, dynamics and mechanics of materials.
Registration for spring 2025 begins Nov. 4. For more information, contact eol@auburn.edu.
