The Samuel Ginn College of Engineering renews Engineering Spirit Week with a lineup of events beginning Tuesday, April 13 on the Gavin Garden in front of the Brown-Kopel Engineering Student Achievement Center.

The week was introduced in fall 2020 to celebrate the hard work of engineering students while curbing feelings of being overwhelmed and disconnected due to COVID-19.

“With the help of 100+ Women Strong, Student Services and Career Development and Corporate Relations, Spirit Week was born,” said Corporate Relations Coordinator Hillary Allen. “Our hope is for this week to bring joy and fun to students who work hard throughout the semester.”

The event-filled week is developed in collaboration with Engineering Student Council, Student Services, 100+ Women Strong and the Auburn Engineering Academic Excellence Program.

The week’s events include:

  • “Yay for Chick-fil-A” from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. on April 13 with Chick-fil-A biscuits provided by the E- Council.
  • “Don’t cheat yourself, treat yourself,” with an engineering tailgate sponsored by Student Services on April 14 from 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Vegetarian options will be available.
  • “Start your day strong,” with breakfast pastries, coffee and cold drinks provided by 100+ Women Strong and the Auburn Engineering Academic Excellence Program. The event will be held on April 15 and occur from 8-10:30 a.m.
  • Dual events will be held on Friday, April 16 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. All engineering students are invited to an ice cream social. Simultaneously, in Brown Kopel Suite 1131, SignENG Day, a photo op event, is open to all students who have landed an internship, co-op or full-time job.

“SignENG Day is an opportunity for students to share where they will be interning, co-oping or working full time,” Allen said.

Students will register to take a picture with a festive backdrop, wear provided company gear and hold up a sign showcasing the company’s logo. All participants will receive a t-shirt.

“The table idea came from Auburn’s one and only, Charles Barkley, and his Auburn-themed table during March Madness a few years back,” she said. “This is an exciting time in a student’s life, and we encourage students to take a moment to celebrate their success and all of the obstacles they have overcome to accomplish a remarkable milestone.”

SignENG Day pictures can be shared on social media using the hashtag #SignENGDay21.
