Anton Schindler, the Mountain Spirit Professor of civil and environmental engineering, was recently selected to serve a three-year term as a voting member of the American Concrete Institute’s (ACI) Technical Activities Committee (TAC).
“I’m honored to be selected to serve on the Technical Activities Committee of the American Concrete Institute,” Schindler said.
Founded in 1904, the ACI promotes best practices for concrete design and use around the world through educational and training programs, certification programs and technical resources.
The 12 voting members of the TAC manage the organization's technical activities, including design codes, construction specifications, reports, convention programs and special publications.
“Serving on the TAC comes with great responsibility and requires a significant amount of time,” Schindler said. “Fortunately, it is not all just business. I am looking forward to the camaraderie formed by networking and working together with my fellow TAC members.”
Schindler is director of the Highway Research Center and has won multiple awards from the American Concrete Institute, American Society for Civil Engineers and the Southeastern Concrete Alliance Network.
