The purpose to create the schematic symbol is to generate a "compact" view of a complex design. During functional verification, the internal structure of the circuit is not important. Thus a symbol is served as a blackbox, consealing the real implementations.

-run design architect (with command "da" or "adk_da")

(This program provides a GUI view of the circuit. )

-generate symbol

-check symbol

(This step has to be done in order for the generated symbol to be used in future simulation. )

-save symbol
