        Sushil Adhikari, Ph.D.(Principal Investigator)

    Sushil Adhikari is an Assistant Professor of the Biosystems Engineering Department at Auburn University. Adhikari earned his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, an M.S. degree from Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand in Energy Technology, and a Ph.D. degree from Mississippi State University in Biological Engineering.

      Sushil Adhikari’s areas of research include biomass gasification and pyrolysis, biomass treatment for thermochemical processes, and hydrogen production from biological materials. Adhikari’s work has been supported by the United States Department of Agriculture, Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), Department of Transportation- SunGrant, Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station and others. Adhikari currently serves as an Associate- Editor for the journal Transactions of ASABE and Applied Engineering in Agriculture and has received Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station 2011 Director’s Researcher Award, 2011 College of Agriculture Dean’s Grantsmanship Award, and 2010 Distinguished Young Agricultural Engineer Award from Alabama Section of American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers.

    He has published more than 35 peer-reviewed journal articles in the field of bioenergy and biofuels. He is currently supervising the research of four Ph.D. students, four Master’s students and 2 undergraduate students.
