Welcome! I'm glad you took the time to visit my website. I've included a few things below about me and my work; the links above provide more information if you are interested. Please feel free to call or email if you would like to learn more.
I am an Associate Professor in the Civil Engineering Department at Auburn University. I have a BS in Geophysics from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), an MS in Hydrology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) through the Desert Research Institute (DRI), and a PhD in Civil Engineering (Hydrology/Hydraulics) from Auburn University. I have worked at the Tennesee Valley Authority Engineering Laboratory and the US Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) in their environmental research group. In 1999, I started Hayworth Engineering Science, an applied science and engineering firm focusing on complex hazardous waste site assessment, and applied coastal and estuarine science and engineering. In 2010, I returned to Auburn to again pursue my research interests.
I enjoy collaborative projects in environmental and ecosystem research, assessment and restoration. I have broad interests in basic and applied science and engineering related to coupled hydrologic, geologic, chemical, and biological processes, functions, and effects within estuarine, terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems. In particular, I am interested in better comprehending the influence of human activities on these processes, functions, and effects, ultimately leading to restoration of human-impacted natural systems.
