Graduate Research Assistantship Opportunities

The Department of Civil Engineering offers a strong and well-respected Structural Engineering Program. 

The department has several young and dedicated faculty members who are committed to establishing national

and international reputation at the highest level.  We are currently looking for new M.S. and Ph.D. students

in the area of Structural Engineering in combination with Concrete Materials research.  Funding of these

positions include a monthly stipend and a tuition fellowship.  Research projects usually require extensive

experimental work and constitutive modeling.  Generally, research projects are conducted in collaboration with

research partners from industry, offering students valuable experience and excellent employment opportunities.

Topics include:

£ self-consolidating concrete,

£  mitigation of cracking of mass concrete structures,

£  mitigation of bridge deck distresses,

£ development of high-performance drilled-shaft concrete,

£  concrete durability,

£  assessment of non-destructive testing techniques,

£  advanced materials characterization, and 

£  computer-based modeling of concrete behavior.

Priority will be given to students with high academic standing and excellent communication and interpersonal
