National Pooled-Fund Workshop on Asphalt Mixture Performance Tester

An NCAT engineer operates the AMPT.This two-day workshop, hosted by the Federal Highway Administration and NCAT, will discuss the development and implementation of AMPT and relevant test procedures for evaluating the performance of asphalt mixtures. While this workshop will gather together pooled-fund participants, all users and experts in AMPT testing are welcome to discuss the following topics:

  • Importance of performance testing for asphalt mixtures

  • Development of AMPT and current specifications

  • Uses of AMPT for evaluating asphalt mixtures and providing inputs for MEPDG design

  • User’s experience with implementation and AMPT testing

  • Round table discussion to identify user’s needs and share strategies to address existing issues with equipment, test procedures and acceptance criteria.

  • Future plans and other tests that can be performed using AMPT
