Full-Scale Test Site

HRC's Spring Villa Test Site, located in Opelika, AL, provides a space where full-scale research can be performed. The Spring Villa Test Site is also part of the National Geotechnical Experimentation Sites (NGES) Program funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The NGES Program contains a network of U.S. test sites to facilitate the development of new techniques of soil characterization and earthwork construction and allowing geotechnical researchers to select the most appropriate site for their needs on the basis of soil type, site location, and available geotechnical data.
