Turochy recognized with national teaching award

Rod Turochy

Rod Turochy, the James M. Hunnicutt Professor of Traffic Engineering in the Department of Civil Engineering, received the 2017 James M. Robbins National Excellence in Teaching Award from Chi Epsilon, the civil engineering honor society.

The award was established to recognize dedication to teaching in the civil engineering profession or closely associated engineering fields. Turochy’s nomination was coordinated through the Auburn Chi Epsilon chapter.

Turochy has been a faculty member of the College of Engineering since 2002, and was recently promoted to full professor. He also serves as director of the Alabama Technology Transfer Center and before arriving at Auburn, he worked in traffic engineering for the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Previous recipients of this national award include Wesley Zech, Brasfield & Gorrie Professor of Construction Engineering and Management in civil engineering in 2016; and Jose Vasconcelos, associate professor in civil engineering in 2014.
