Former Auburn University baseball pitcher Grant Dayton, ’11 industrial and systems engineering, recently made his Major League Baseball debut for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Since being called up by the Dodgers on July 21, Dayton has appeared in four games as a relief pitcher with a 1.5 ERA. In six innings of play, he has compiled 10 strikeouts and just one walk. Drafted by the Florida Marlins in 2010, the left-hander had played exclusively in the minor leagues until getting a shot with the Dodgers this year.

Dayton, a Huntsville native, played for Auburn from 2008-10. He and the Dodgers play the Pittsburgh Pirates at 3:05 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, in a nationally televised game on Fox Sports 1.
