Practical Inclusion Strategies for Faculty & Staff
The College of Engineering organizes activities and provides services to welcome new faculty into the college and support them in their academic endeavors. We want each member of our faculty to feel valued and have all the support needed to be successful.
More broadly, the University provides support, resources, and training to cultivate an inclusive and equitable workplace for everyone.
Community Support
- University Task Force for Opportunity and Equity | The Task Force is a representative team invested in developing an equitable and inclusive University. As of summer 2020, their top priority centers on examining racial inequality and recommending strategies for addressing disparities.
- University Office of Inclusion and Diversity | The primary purpose of the OID is to establish diversity as a core value at the University. It serves as a vital resource for building unity, equity, and inclusion in the Auburn Community through:
- University Office of International Programs | Supports the internationalization of Auburn’s instructional, research, and outreach programs.
- University Office of Accessibility | The Office of Accessibility collaborates with all parts of the University to facilitate an accessible and inclusive environment.
- University Ombuds Office | The Ombuds Office is a neutral source that provides confidential and informal assistance to faculty and staff in order to express concerns, identify options to address workplace conflicts, practice productive communication, and surface responsible concerns regarding university policies and practices.
- University Office of Health Promotion and Wellness | A free, weekly opportunity for all Auburn students to work forming and maintaining health and wellness habits.
- Employee Assistance Program | A confidential assessment, counseling, and referral service for all benefit-eligible employees and their dependents.
Policies and Guidelines
- Office of Affirmative Action & Equal Employment Opportunity | The AA/EEO provides guidance for promoting equal access to employment and educational opportunities and resolves issues of harassment and discrimination based on protected class.
Support for Family
- Family Medical Leave Act | The University provides eligible employees job-protected leave for specified family and medical reasons.
- Paid Parental Leave Form | A period of paid time off is available to eligible employees for activities related to the care and well-being of a newborn or adopted child.
- Guidelines for Dual Career Couples | In an effort to recruit and retain the best faculty, Auburn strives to help both members of “two-career” couples locate appropriate positions at the university.
- Childcare Facilities & Resources
