Student Recruitment

It’s important to us that we increase diversity among our faculty and leadership. In an effort to attract and elevate women and underrepresented populations to our faculty, we’re proactively seeking new talent through these programs:

  • Promoting Engineering Research Scholars (PEERS)  We invite senior Ph.D. students and postdocs from underrepresented groups to Auburn to give a seminar and meet with faculty and students. The purpose is to introduce early career scholars to Auburn and to expose the Auburn community to talented scholars for underrepresented groups. This program emphasizes an increase in exposure and establishment of contacts for future collaboration for long-term faculty recruitment.
  • Preparing Future Faculty   In collaboration with the College of Science and Mathematics, Office of Inclusion and Diversity, and the Biggio Center, we are expanding the PEERS program by inviting groups of senior Ph.D.students and postdocs to Auburn for a professional development workshop on preparing for a faculty position.
  • Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) Institute for Teaching and Mentoring  In partnership with the College of Science and Mathematics, we exhibit and host receptions at the SREB for Teaching and Mentoring where attendees are primarily graduate students from underrepresented groups who are interested in academic careers.
