Lecturer/Senior Lecturer Position 

The CSSE Department invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track faculty Lecturer or Senior Lecturer position to begin in spring 2023 or fall 2023. The successful candidate must possess a master's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field from an ABET accredited institution prior to the date of appointment. Candidates with (or close to earning) a PhD or have teaching and/or industrial experience are desired. Salary and level will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in artificial intelligence and/or computer security, but candidates from all areas of computer science and software engineering will be considered. Excellent communication skills are desired. This is a 9-month appointment with a typical teaching load of three 3-credit-hour courses per academic semester, with the possibility of teaching during the summer term for additional compensation. CSSE is the highest ranked department in the State of Alabama, ranked fourth among SEC schools, 45th among departments at public universities, and among the top 15% of computer science departments nationwide according to the latest US News and World Report rankings. The department currently has a diverse and international tenure-track, teaching, and research faculty of over thirty, who support a dynamic research enterprise and strong undergraduate (BS in Computer Science, Bachelor of Software Engineering, and Bachelor of Computer Science) and graduate (MS in CSSE, MS in Cybersecurity Engineering, MS in Data Science & Engineering, and PhD in CSSE) programs. Current student enrollment is over 1400 undergraduate and over 200 graduate students. Candidates with a master’s degree and wanting to earn a PhD will be able to pursue the doctoral degree in the department while working.
