It was love at first site. Emily Doucette first visited Auburn with her parents as a high school student. She loved the campus and were impressed with the Samuel Samuel Ginn College of Engineering's reputation.
By the time she was ready to finish up her undergraduate degree, she knew she wanted to stick around for a few more years and a few more degrees. "I knew I wanted to go to graduate school and after looking around, decided to stay put. I knew the caliber of the faculty in the aerospace engineering department was a rare find," she says.
Auburn Engineering has taught Emily to work diligently. "It truly embodies the line of the Auburn creed that says, 'I believe in work, hard work,'" she says. "The students and professors I have met have taught me the meaning of that statement, and that is a lesson I will carry with me throughout life."
As a child, Emily watched Apollo 13 countless times with her father and was fascinated by the field. When she realized that her interest in math and science could help her have a career in aerospace engineering she was excited. "I knew that I had the opportunity to be part of a fascinating, challenging and fast-changing field. After that, I couldn't imagine studying anything else," she says.
Although spending her undergraduate and graduate years at Auburn has given Emily many memories, her best ones so far have been showing parents and friends what Auburn has to offer when they visit with her for home football weekends.
