Samuel Ginn Outstanding Engineering Student Award

The Samuel Ginn Outstanding Engineering Student Award recognizes an undergraduate student in the College of Engineering who demonstrates exemplary performance and career potential.  The student selected for this award will also be recognized at the University level as the Student Government Association Outstanding Student for the College of Engineering.  

The annual award amount is $1,000 contingent upon availability of funds.


The award is open to undergraduate students majoring in engineering. Department chairs may nominate one student from each major in their department.


Nominees should:

  • Be enrolled in the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering.
  • Be a sophomore, junior, or senior and have completed 55% or more of credit hours at Auburn University.
  • Have a GPA in the top 10% of the College.
  • Demonstrated exemplary performance in College activities, University activities, community service, leadership roles, and career potential.

Nomination deadline

Nominations are due from department chairs by Dec. 15.  Nomination forms are provided to department chairs.  A selection committee appointed by the dean of engineering selects the top student from among the students nominated for each major. Recipients will be honored at the College of Engineering's spring awards ceremony.
