Travel Grants
The 1st Workshop on the Age of Information (AoI Workshop), along with Huawei would like to encourage student and post-doc participation at the conference. With the support of Huawei, AoI Workshop will be able to partially support (based on need) the travel, accommodation, and registration costs of student registrants who might otherwise be unable to attend the conference.
Eligibility Requirements
All full-time undergraduate/graduate students and post-docs may apply. We anticipate funding approximately 10 undergraduate/graduate students and post-docs at a rate of up to $800 with $500 being the most likely amount per person.
Application Materials
An application for a travel grant should be sent to TPC Co-chair Bo Bai (ee.bobbai@gmail.com) with the subject line [AoI Workshop TG]. To increase your chance, applications for funding should be submitted before March 15, 2018. Every application should include the following materials:
1. The applicant's CV.
2. A letter from the student including the following information.
- A brief summary of research interests and the contribution to this paper.
- A description of areas reflected in AoI Workshop program that would impact the student's research.
- A statement about why the conference attendance is important to the student. The paper title and author list should be included in the letter.
3. A recommendation letter from the student's advisor including the following.
- Confirmation that the applicant is an undergraduate/graduate student or a post-doc in good academic standing.
- Ways this particular person would benefit from attendance at the conference.
- The strengths and potential contributions of the applicant.
Incomplete applications will not be considered. The applicant who does not register the AoI workshop will not be awarded the travel grant. If an advisor prefers to submit the recommendation letter separately, please ask him/her to email it (pdf file) to TPC Co-chair Bo Bai (ee.bobbai@gmail.com) by March 15, 2018 with the subject line [AoI Workshop TG RL].
