HELP WANTED

Students,

If you have interest in pursuing a graduate degree with research focused on an area described below, please contact me for more information. I am always looking for talented students to involve in my research program.

 student assistantships and graduate fellowships

Research Interests:

stability of horizontally curved bridges

elastic and inelastic stability of structures

advanced modeling and simulation of structures

effects of blast loads on structures

effects of earthquakes on structures

new technologies for lightweight deployable structures/shelters

motor vehicle crash injury research

sign support behavior and design

use of polymers and composites in structures

maintenance and rehabilitation of local roads bridges and culverts

mechanics of precast concrete sandwich panel

Teaching:

I typically teach the theory-oriented civil engineering structures and mechanics classes such as Mechanics of Materials, Advanced Stress Analysis, Finite Element Methods (I and II), and Stability of Structures. All of my classes reflect my strong belief in engaging the students within the lectures and in taking advantage of the latest technologies.  I make a strong effort to get to know each student personally.  I also involve my PhD and post-doctoral students in teaching, which gives them invaluable experience towards a career in education and research.

Program Descriptions:

Bridge Stability Research

Protective Structures Research

Local Roads and Highway Infrastructure Research

Motor Vehicle Crash Injury Analysis Research
