Engineers to the rescue

young alum christmas

Take a moment out of your day to celebrate the joy and wonderment of being an engineer - and solving problems that people didn't even know they had. Cheers!

Flying through the air with the greatest of ease

auburn gymnastics

The Auburn gymnastics team recently competed at the NCAA semifinals in Fort Worth, Texas and finished in 5th place. This capped off another successful season and the College of Engineering is particularly proud of two gymnasts who helped advance the team to the national level: Kullen Hlawek, junior in aerospace engineering, and Kelsey Kopec, junior in mechanical engineering. Congratulations to Auburn gymnastics for going the distance and for their dedication, time and commitment. We invite you to read more about Kullen, Kelsey and the team.

Young Alumni events are coming to a city near you!

If you are an Auburn Engineering young alumni living in either Birmingham or Atlanta, you are invited to attend one of our upcoming events! This is a perfect opportunity to connect with other young alumni in your area, while also enjoying the sporting atmosphere. For our Birmingham alumni, we will be hosting a Birmingham Barons baseball game at Regions Park on May 12. We encourage you and your family to come out for a night of fun as we batter up with the Barons! An email has been sent to our young alumni living in the area with more details. Our Atlanta crowd is invited to attend an Ole Miss watch party this fall. More details will be shared as we get closer to the date If you have questions about either event, please email Wade Welch at wade.welch@auburn.edu. We look forward to seeing you and celebrating why it's great to be an Auburn engineer!

Young Alumni Council promotes engagement among peers

young alumni 2016

The Young Alumni Council met recently on the engineering campus to discuss ways our young alumni can help the college fulfill its vision of being the best student-centered engineering experience in America. With the Young Alumni Council's mission to engage, support and connect engineering young alumni, the group encourages everyone to connect back to the college. There are a number of ways to give back including serving as a mentor to current students or volunteering with a department or student organization. If you do not have the time to volunteer through service, you can support the college through a financial gift. Our young alumni are essential to the college's success, and with your help and enthusiasm we will continue to grow stronger and be recognized among the top engineering schools in the country!

Give it away, give it away, give it away now

sec stats

All of our alumni recall fond memories of their time at Auburn. Whether attending an unbelievable football game or finding misery with company over that last-minute lab report, Auburn holds a special place in many people's hearts. So how can you support the school that gave you so much? Through your financal gifts and donations! We all know Auburn University is the best of the best, but according to the 2015 U.S. News & World Report Alumni Giving Rate statistic, Auburn ranks 11th out of 14 schools in the SEC. It's time we help to change that number and prove we belong on the top. Remember, the average alumni giving rate is a determining factor when Auburn is ranked nationally. And there will be no better time to donate to Auburn than Nov. 29 when Auburn University will hold its second annual #TigerGivingDay. Be on the lookout for more details later this year about the College of Engineering's #TigerGivingDay project and consider giving back!

Thank A You day

Wednesday, April 13 marked the inaugural #ThankAYou day where students on the Haley Concourse wrote signs for what they were thankful for because of the support of generous alumni, like you! The event, sponsored by the Office of Annual Giving, was another way to show appreciation to all of our donors. In addition, #ThankAYou day was a great reminder of what students can accomplish, gain and achieve with your support. Whether you can donate $1 or $1,000, any donation you can make will make the future of Auburn Engineering brighter.

When you tell people about your job, do they stare at you in wonder? If so, we want to hear from you! We're featuring our young alumni with cool careers around the world on the college's social media accounts and website. Our goal is to spotlight as many young alumni from all over and showcase how our graduates have either used their engineering degree in a not so usual way, or have gone on to become part of some major engineering feats! If you fit what we're looking for, or know someone who does, then please contact Megan Burmester at smithmp@auburn.edu  and she'll send you a couple of quick questions to answer. Next thing you know, you'll be front and center on our social and web sites! Be sure to check out our past alumni we have featured to learn more.
