Among the researchers are highly respected hardware research engineers and scientists
in semi-conductor technology. "Semiconductors, and the computer chips which are
made from semiconductors, are the backbone of the information revolution. We've
had success testing chips for stress and can predict their durability. As we
ask more of what computer chips can do and where they have to work and perform,
packaging and reliability in these types of conditions become bigger priorities,"
says Bogdan Wilamoski, professor and director of the Alabama Microelectronics
Center. This research team has a strong track record developing new raw materials
from which the semiconductors are made.
