RE-INVENT: Emergency CPAP to ventilator converter

Auburn University's CPAP-to-ventilator prototype is shown.

As hospitals begin dealing with an influx of COVID-19 patients, many are lacking enough ventilators for the anticipated numbers of critically ill patients they will treat. Auburn researchers are taking part in the worldwide push to engineer ventilators for hospitals using existing resources. A team of Auburn engineers have developed RE-INVENT, an emergency CPAP to ventilator converter for health care workers. The design has been submitted to the Food and Drug Administration for emergency use authorization.
