The FAA-funded National Center of Excellence for Research in the Intermodal Transport
Environment (RITE) consists of an 8 institution team: Auburn University (Administrative
Lead); Purdue and Harvard Universities (Technical Co-Leads); Boise State University,
Kansas State University, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, the University
of California Berkeley and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey
(Core Members).
RITE is conducting a comprehensive and integrated program of research and development on the cabin environment. The team brings the diverse expertise necessary to conduct research on the healthfulness of the cabin environment for passengers and crew, enhancement of aircraft environmental control systems, and detection and mitigation of chemical and biological threats aboard aircraft.
RITE aims to be an unique resource for airlines, equipment manufacturers, cabin crews and the traveling public and places a major emphasis on partnerships with industry in the broadest sense.
Award of the CoE was announced in September 2004 and RITE now has a highly active research and development program, so please check back often for the latest developments.
