Experience at NCAT: Graduate research assistant focusing on the Cracking Group Experiment and critical mixture aging study for top-down cracking, graduate teaching assistant of pavement materials courses; team leader of Auburn University’s asphalt mixture design competition team.

Research Interests: Advanced asphalt material characterization, asphalt mixture aging, balanced mix design, innovative pavement materials.

Future Objective: Chen would like to be a researcher or engineer, especially in the pavement materials area or working on practical engineering problems.


Danny Martinez

Degree Program: Master of Science in Civil Engineering

Graduation: August 2020

Experience at NCAT: Pavement Preservation Group study, cold recycled mix designs for MnRoad sections in Minnesota, friction and texture evaluation of chip seals in Alabama, structural analysis of cold recycled sections on Highway US-280, member of Auburn's asphalt balanced mix design team.

Research Interests: Sustainable asphalt mixes and materials, nondestructive pavement evaluation and management, ME pavement design.

Future Objective: To be part of the transportation industry and become a Professional Engineer.
