Novel and Advanced Polymeric Materials Program

The Department of Commerce provides funding for the Program in the Development of Novel and Advanced Polymeric Materials within the Department of Polymer and Fiber Engineering.  

The scope of this initiative is to build upon previous research and development of polymeric materials, equipment and measurement techniques. The research improves existing polymeric materials and polymer systems as well as developing novel polymers.

• Tailored Surface Reactivity of Carbon Nanotubes for Polymeric Composite Applications
• Novel Antimicrobial Fibers
• Antimicrobial Coating Systems Based on Silver Nanorods
• Nanoparticle Reinforces Hybrid Fibers and Films
• Analysis of the Nature of the Self-Assembly Phenomenon of Nano-Fibers for Tissue Engineering and Drug Delivery
• Protective Covers for Aircraft, Vehicles, and Structures 
•  Enzymatic Polymerization 

•  Stress Mapping around SWNT and MWNT in Polymer-Matrix Nano- Composites
