Strategic Plan Summary
The Department of Polymer and Fiber Engineering currently offers an ABET-accredited
engineering degree and a textile management and technology degree certified by
the Textile Institute. The engineering degree is unique in the State of Alabama.
For over 10 years, students in the Department of Polymer and Fiber Engineering
have studied fibers and polymers in a context broader than manufacturing processes.
Graduates have been actively and successfully seeking employment in industries
including fiber producers, automotive suppliers, aircraft manufacturers and suppliers,
composites manufacturers, and biomedical companies.
