The Department of Mechanical Engineering (http://www.eng.auburn.edu/mech) at Auburn University invites nominations and applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in advanced vehicle propulsion systems and related energy conversion technologies starting August 2007. Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and an earned Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or other related field. The successful candidate will support on-going research in the University Transportation Peak of Excellence (http://www.eng.auburn.edu/research/peaks/tp) in the area of advanced vehicle propulsion systems research. In addition to participating in Peak activities, the candidate will also be required to develop a strong externally funded research program and to teach at all levels in the department's Thermal Sciences Stem.
The candidate's own externally funded research program is to be in the general area of energy sciences and can include any of the following categories: hybrid propulsion and systems, fuel cells, energy generation/conversion/storage, and could include both micro and nano scale energy generation and transport technologies. Applicants must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the U.S. by the employment date and be able to communicate effectively in English.
