Course Requirements
- At least one semester of full-time study in residence (9 semester credit hours).
- A thesis is required of each candidate.
- Each candidate must pass a final oral examination covering the thesis and course work.
- A minimum of 30 semester hours of course credits must be completed, satisfying the following requirements.
- Graduate School Minimum Requirements:
- 4 to 6 semester credits of ELEC 7990, Research and Thesis.
- A minimum of 21 semester credits in the major area (ELEC courses).
- A minimum of 24 semester credits taken at Auburn.
- Additional Electrical & Computer Engineering Requirements:
- No more than 3 semester credits of independent study (ELEC 7900 or equivalent.)
- At least one course must be taken in three of the six research areas:
- Computer Systems (62xx,6150,72xx,82xx)
- Electromagnetics (63xx,73xx,83xx)
- Communications & Signal Processing (64xx,6100,6110, 6120,74xx,84xx)
- Control Systems (65xx,75xx,85xx)
- Power Systems (66xx,76xx,86xx)
- Electronics (67xx,6130, 77xx,87xx)
- A formal plan of study must be approved by the student's Advisory Committee and filed with the Graduate
School no later than the final day of the first semester of study. (See www.grad.auburn.edu - GSPOST) Note that a masters student selects the M.S. (thesis) or M.E.E. (non-thesis)
degree option when filing the plan of study.
