Auburn University Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering Assistant/Associate / Full Professor The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering (CSSE) invites applications
for multiple tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant/Associate/ Full Professor
level to begin Spring or Fall 2009. Salary will be commensurate with the candidate's
qualifications. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities include research, graduate student supervision, graduate and
undergraduate teaching, and service. For positions at senior levels, a record
of success in securing external funding for research is expected, and potential
for successfully obtaining external research funding will be considered for entry
level faculty positions. Candidates selected for these positions must be able to meet eligibility requirements
to work in the United States at the time appointment is scheduled to begin and
continue working legally for the proposed term of employment; excellent communication
skills required. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in computer science, software engineering, or a
closely related field; however, applicants who are ABD may apply if they reasonably
expect to complete the terminal degree prior to January 2010. We encourage candidates
from all areas of computer science and software engineering to apply. The following
are desired research areas: artificial intelligence, and software engineering.
The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements

skills required. The CSSE Department currently has 16 full-time faculty members and supports strong
graduate (M.S., M.Sw.E., Ph.D.) and undergraduate programs in computer science,
software engineering, and wireless engineering. CSSE enrollment for Fall 2008
is approximately 350 undergraduate and 135 graduate students. Faculty research
areas include software engineering, computer and communication networks, human-computer
interaction, pervasive computing, artificial intelligence, database systems, information
assurance, simulation, and wireless engineering. In December 2007, CSSE moved
into the new, $55M Shelby Center for Engineering Technology. Additional information
