Technician Needs

Technician support is essential for productive laboratory research. Technicians provide continuity in general lab procedures and test methods, and assist faculty by providing oversight and training of graduate students. Technicians are also essential for maintaining a safe lab environment. Civil Engineering has a machinist/general technician who has been on the staff for many years. Recently, an environmental lab technician and a portland cement concrete lab technician have been hired as a result of growth in research in these areas. Much of these technician's salaries are paid from external research contracts and gifts from industry. Continued growth in research and the addition of a senior faculty member in the Environmental group will require the addition of another environmental technician. Continued growth in research and additions to the faculty in the geotechnical and structures areas will require the addition of a general/electronics technician.
