Pre-Engineering Advising

For the Freshman year all engineering students are advised by Engineering Student Services, 104 Ramsay, Samuel Ginn College of Engineering. This office also provides academic and career couselling to assist students in determining the curriculum that best fulfills their personal and educational objectives.  Students interested in the Chemical Engineering program generally are enrolled as Pre-Chemical Engineers (PCHEN).

Pre-Chemical Engineering students are transferred to the Chemical Engineering program (CHEN) upon meeting the following requirements:

  • Complete all appropriate freshman courses
  • Earn an 2.2 overall GPA on all required and approved elective course work
  • Be recommended by the Curriculum Admissions Committee

All students who have declared their major as Chemical Engineering are advised by the Undergraduate Academic Advisor, Mrs. Jennifer M Harris.

It is suggested that students maintain frequent contact with both the Engineering Student Services and Undergraduate Academic Advisor's Office.  Useful information is posted on the bulletin boards or placed on the tables outside of these offices.  Students are also encouraged to frequently check their university email accounts for important messages as well as checking the department website.
