Every year, undergraduate and graduate students from the Department of Aerospace
Engineering take part in numerous student design competitions organized at the
national and international level by organizations such as NASA, AIAA, SAE etc.
These competitions help the students build up a team spirit and allows them to
understand the intricacies of systems engineering in aerospace vehicle design
of all types. These competitions are diverse in their scope and include design
of high altitude rockets, unmanned aerial vehicles among others.
Auburn University teams have usually excelled in these competitions and have displayed professionalism and the trend is seen to continue every year. The year 2009-2010 will see the following events take place:
