Department Personnel
The ten faculty members in the department together have expertise in aerodynamics, flight dynamics and control, air-breathing propulsion, and structures, the core subjects in aeronautical engineering, and also in orbital mechanics, spacecraft attitude dynamics and control and rocket propulsion, core subjects of astronautical engineering. Due to the size of the faculty, our choice of program type is aerospace engineering, a combination of aeronautical and astronautical, with an emphasis on the former. Auburn aerospace engineering faculty members received their terminal degrees from well respected universities, conduct research in their areas of expertise, and participate in the principal aerospace professional organizations, which are the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), the American Astronautical Society (AAS), the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE), and the American Helicopter Society (AHS). Faculty members also participate as members of national committees and boards and advisory groups. For photographs of individual faculty members and additional information, including resumes, see
Faculty page.)
The department staff consists of an office administrator, associate office administrator, electrical/computer engineer, a model builder/mechanist, and an undergraduate academic advisor. For photographs of individual staff members and additional information, see
Staff page.
