Teams and Individuals Guided by Engineering Resources (TIGERs) Camps

Junior TIGERs for rising 9th and 10th graders | June 10-15, 2012
Senior TIGERs for rising 11th and 12th graders | June 17-22, 2012

Overview

Tigers camp participantsTeams and Individuals Guided by Engineering Resources (TIGERs) Camps are resident summer camps designed to expose students in grades 9-12 to the world of engineering. Engineers make the world a better place by designing things that make life easier, safer or that protect the environment. Yet, studies show that middle school students know very little about careers in engineering. This year we will offer two camps: one for rising 9th and 10th graders, the other for rising 11th and 12th graders

Your child might be interested in a career in engineering if he or she is creative, likes math and science and is interested in:

  • how things work
  • solving problems
  • working with a team of people

The camp will be conducted by faculty, staff, and students from the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering, ensuring that students receive a broad overview of the engineering profession. Camp activities include workshops, tours, and lectures guided by engineers and engineering students who will answer questions about what courses students need to take to prepare them for success in college and a fulfilling career in engineering. Students will also participate in a number of hands-on activities in:

  • Aerospace
  • Biosystems
  • Chemical
  • Civil
  • Computer Science & Software and Wireless Software
  • Electrical
  • Industrial and Systems
  • Mechanical
  • Materials
  • Polymer and Fiber
  • Wireless

Students will experience campus-life while residing in Auburn's resident dormitories, eating at campus dining facilities, and enjoying evening social and recreational activities. Camp participants will have 24/7 supervision by experienced counselors.
