The website for national rules is http://www.asce.org or the Master Builders website which is located at http://www.masterbuilders.com/MB/static/canoe/rulesandregs.htm. A panel of three to five judges will be responsible for reading the design reports, observing the oral presentations, inspecting the displays, grading the final products, and overseeing the races. The same panel will judge all events. They will be supported by coordinators and timers, a saftey official and score keeper who will use the spreadsheet and software developed for the 2001 National Competition.Registration forms will be collected for this competition at the oral presentation. To be fair to all concerned, a lottery will be held at 8:00pm during the social on Thursday night at the Auburn University Hotel and Conference Center. All schools will be randomly assigned a number to specify their oral presentation starting time, the location of their display, and the space where their final product is to be exhibited. The starting positions for the distance races, as well as the lanes and heats for the sprint qualifiers, will also be drawn for all schools at the social. The facilitate running the races, the same starting positions will be assigned to a given school for both the men's and women's distance races. Due to constraints imposed by time, proximity, and access, concrete canoes cannot be included as part of the oral presentation. There is limited space in the rear of the room for storage; so, schools presenting in the afternoon session may store their equipment, props, etc. only after the morning session is over. Each school will be given passes for the number of registered participants. These passes will be good from Saturday ONLY.
