Land surveyors must ensure that, once every four (4) years, at least six (6) PDH's in "Minimum Technical Standards" be included in their PDH's acquired.
Dual Registrants: Registrants with a dual license are required to obtain thirty (30) PDH units per renewal period. If a dual registrant exceeds the requirement in any biennial renewal period, a maximum of fifteen (15) PDH's may be carried forward into the subsequent renewal period. At least one-third (1/3) of the PDH's in a renewal period must be obtained in engineering, and one-third (1/3) in surveying. The remaining units may be in either field, at the discretion of the registrant

The professional development hours shall be in the following categories:
A) A minimum of 4 hours in the area of State of Illinois statutes and rules that regulate professional land surveyors and surveys.
B) A minimum of 2 hours in the area of professional conduct.
C) A minimum of 14 hours in the area of land surveying or related sciences.

No more than half (10) of the hours may be obtained from online courses.
Also, the 4 hours required in Illinois statutes and rules may NOT be obtained in online courses.

LS.: Sec. 2. (a) Registered professional surveyors must complete a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education in order to qualify for the biennial renewal of the professional surveyor's license in an active status. The twenty-four (24) hours of continuing education requirement must include both of the following:
         (1) A minimum of six (6) continuing education hours in mandatory topics as defined in section 6 of this rule.
       (2) A minimum of eighteen (18) continuing education hours in elective topics as defined in section 7 of this rule.
(b) New registrants are not required to comply with the continuing education requirements stated in subsection (a) at the first renewal of his or her license.
(c) No single elective course may count for more than twelve (12) hours of continuing education. Hours in excess of twelve (12) granted for any single elective course shall not be applied to the hours of continuing education required in the renewal period except as otherwise allowed under subsection (e).

Once every 4 years, 4 hours in Standards of Practice/Ethics/Code of Conduct required and counts as part of 8 hours annual requirement.

PE = Licenses with last name beginning with L-Z, on their June 30,2010 renewal will verify compliance for calender years 2008 and 2009. For A-K, must comply with 30 hours in calender years 2009 and 2010 for June 30th, 2011 renewal. Engineers with License before 1972 are exempt from the CELL requirement provided continuously licensed and no disciplinary actions.
The Kentucky Board may award a greater number of PDHs for an Auburn courses than listed on a Certificate of Completion. The Board rounds up any time over 50 minutes to another hour. Licensees will need to contact the Board and/or refer to http://www.lrc.ky.gov/KRS/321-00/CHAPTER.HTM.

At least 1 PDH shall be in professional ethics. A minimum of 4 PDHs shall be earned in Minimum Technical Standards for Property Boundary Surveys in Louisiana during any 2 consecutive biennial periods.

Every registrant shall be required to obtain two (2) PDH units of Ethics training during three renewal periods. If a registrant exceeds two PDH units of Ethics training during the three year renewal period, two PDH units may be carried forward into the next three year renewal period. **Please Note: Land Surveyors can take any ethics course(s) for land surveyors or engineers.

Every Professional Land Surveyor registrant shall be required to obtain two PDH units of Minimum Standards training during three renewal periods. **Please Note: Land Surveyors can take any Minimum Standards course(s) from the following states: Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Louisiana.

The amount of of credit allowed for approved correspondence and individual study programs, including taped study programs, shall be recommneded by the program provider based upon one-half the average completion time cal. by the provider... We are approved as a continuing Education Provider because we are an ABET University and approved by AIA (Rule 13:40-13.5(c)). Correspondence or distance learning courses on engineering topics where a final examination is required: one CPC credit for each hour of instruction. For Land Surveyors, 12 hours of the 27 hours must be land surveying topics and for Professional Engineers, 12 hours professional engineering topics

Requirements – every licensee is required to obtain 30 professional development hours (PDH) units during a biennium, at least four of which shall be in ethics. A maximum of 10 PDH units may be earned in self-directed study. If a licensee exceeds the biennial requirement in any biennial cycle, a maximum of 15 PDH units may be carried forward into the subsequent biennium. PDH units may be earned as follows: (2) successful completion of continuing education courses; (3) successful completion of correspondence, televised, videotaped, and other short courses; tutorials.

We are approved as a continuing Education Provider because we are an ABET University and approved by AIA. The explanation about ABET universities is given in the Q&A on the NYS Board website (see Question#17 in Q&A). They do accept our courses unless the topic is not technical and applicable to the area of license of the individual (see Question#18 in Q&A). The NYS Board does not list the ABET universities on their websites, so we are not listed on their separate provider list.
