How to Apply

  • Complete the online Graduate School application in the ApplyYourself  module. Go to the Graduate School website at and click the Apply Online button. You will be required to create an account and pay the non-refundable application fee online via credit card.     
  • Upload (if required by the Department of proposed study) your letter of intent or statement of purpose, resume and names of individuals to submit recommendation letters.
  • Obtain three letters of recommendation from supervisors, managers or instructors. Based on the Department’s requirements, individuals providing letters of recommendation may be asked to submit letters online using ApplyYourself or mailed directly to the appropriate department. If you are planning to earn a master degree in industrial and systems engineering, you are not required to obtain any recommendation letters.
  • Submit GRE test results (if required by the department of proposed study); GRE (Graduate Record Examination — General Test) scores received within the past five years may be requested by contacting the GRE Educational Testing Service at P.O. Box 6000, Princeton, NJ 08541 at  Auburn University’s ETS institutional code is 1005. Have scores sent to the Graduate School, 106 Hargis Hall, Auburn University, AL 36849.
  • We require an “official” transcript from all post-secondary schools. On the application please list each institution beyond secondary schools, including Auburn University, which you have previously attended. If you are enrolled at present, give the last expected date of enrollment. Have transcripts sent to the Graduate School, 106 Hargis Hall, Auburn University, AL 36849. Official electronic transcripts from domestic institutions may be sent to . The Graduate School will obtain Auburn University transcripts if you are a current or previous Auburn student.
  • Admission is granted by the dean of the Graduate School upon recommendation of the department of proposed study. Applicants should check the status of their official transcripts, test scores and online recommendation via ApplyYourself.  You will need to contact the department of proposed study directly with all the questions concerning departmental requirements as well as admissions recommendations and the time frame in which it will be made.  
  • All documents and fees should be submitted at least 60 days for domestic students and 90 days for international students prior to the desired date of enrollment unless the department of proposed study specifies other application deadlines. See department websites at
