NCAT Announces Two Open Positions

NCAT seeks interested and qualified candidates for the following open positions.

NCAT Test Track Manager

NCAT looks to add to its team of exceptional pavement engineers with this engineering position that will be responsible for:

  • Managing the day-to-day operations and budget of the NCAT Test Track and Test Track Service Center. Be responsible for supervision of personnel, facilities, and trucks. Responsible for safety at the Test Track. Ensures schedules are planned and maintained to meet research needs. Serves as NCAT's primary point of contact for all activities on the Test Track property.
  • Manages and oversees quality assurance testing on materials and construction of test sections. Manages storage of raw materials for Test Track construction. Coordinates sampling and shipping of materials. Manages periodic field-testing on Test Track sections. Provides project reports and maintains communications with vendors.
  • Oversees and participates in the construction of the Test Track at the beginning of each cycle as well as major track repairs with a focus on management, deployment, and optimization of rented construction equipment.
  • Maintains instrumentation and computer systems at the Test Track by serving as local network administrator and coordinating the activities of the instrumentation personnel.
  • Presents reports at various meetings with sponsors, committees, and the Board of Directors.
  • Assists with the distribution of the results of research through sponsor meetings and by forwarding data to NCAT researchers and Test Track sponsors.

Assistant Research Professor

Appointment, review, and promotion in the research title series requires demonstrated abilities to initiate and maintain a program of research or outreach supported by contracts, grants, or other designated funds. Appointees in the research title series are eligible for all the benefits of tenure track faculty except tenure and professional improvement leave. All research title series positions are one-year contracts that may be renewed annually or, if for a lesser period of time, the period of funding from the contract, grant, generated funds, or other designated funds. Renewal is contingent upon performance and available funding.

Externally funded programs for this position are to be in the area of asphalt pavement. Candidates must be able to demonstrate substantial work in two or more of the following areas: asphalt materials testing and characterization, use of recycled materials in asphalt pavement, pavement performance evaluation, pavement management, quality assurance programs for asphalt pavement production and construction, mechanistic modeling of flexible pavements, tire-pavement interaction, and air and water quality issues related to asphalt pavements.

Applicants should have an earned Doctorate in Civil Engineering. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. Review of applications will begin November 01, 2017.
