This new series brings to the Auburn campus noted experts in chemical engineering. It is named for Cleburne A. Basore who in 1929 became the first head of Auburn's Department of Chemical Engineering.
Lanny Schmidt, professor of chemical engineering and materials science at the University of Minnesota, provided an overview of various biofuels generated by autothermal reforming to produce synthesis gas, hydrogen and chemicals, and shared recent results on the production of syngas created by reactive flash volatilization of nonvolatile liquids and solids.
