Bevly Receives Second Army Young Investigator Award

Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) in actionDavid Bevly, assistant professor in mechanical engineering at Auburn University, has been selected to receive a grant from the Army Research Office (ARO) Young Investigator Program. This is Bevly's second young investigator award this year, having received a similar grant from the Office of Naval Research for his work with autonomous navigation and control of canines used for security assistance. Gilbert named to IEEE Computer Society Board of Governors

Juan Gilbert, TSYS Distinguished associate professor in the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering, has been elected to the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE) Computer Society Board of Governors. Gilbert will serve in this capacity for the 2007-2009 term. Read full story

Jones Honored for Work with Student Competition Teams

Peter Jones and studentPeter Jones, associate professor in mechanical engineering, has received the 2006 Carroll Smith Mentor's Cup from the Society of Automotive Engineers. Jones was honored with the award at the 2006 Formula SAE competition in Detroit. Read full story

Thurow Receives Army Young Investigator Award

Brian Thurow, assistant professor in aerospace engineering and head of the Advanced Laser Diagnostics Laboratory (ALDL), has been selected to receive a grant from the Army Research Office (ARO) Young Investigator Program (YIP). "I am excited about this award and how it will contribute to the growth of the ALDL and my career," Thurow said. "We look forward to further long-term research projects with the ARO." Fasina Receives ASABE Leadership Citation

Oladiran Fasina, assistant professor in biosystems engineering, received a leadership citation from the Food and Bioprocess Engineering Institute of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE). Fasina served as the chair of the committee that developed a new international terminology standard for biomass energy. Read full story
