An article by ZhongYang Cheng, an assistant professor of  materials engineering, was recently selected for publication in the Virtual Journal of Nanoscale Science and Technology. Titled "Biosensor Based on a Magnetostrictive Microcantilever," the article was originally published in Applied Physics Letters and discusses a new type of sensor platform that acts as a powerful tool for detecting biological threat agents such as viruses and pathogenic bacteria and spores.

"It is an honor to have my work recognized in this manner," Cheng said. "It means that what we are doing interests other members of the research community, which encourages us to move forward in this exciting area."

Papers published in the Virtual Journal of Nanoscale Science and Technology are selected from submissions from more than 60 journals from a wide range of publishers and academic societies internationally. Articles selected for the virtual journal are recognized for their contributions to new frontier technologies.
