Loyds Establish $1Million Scholarship Fund

Raymond and Eleanor LoydBringing together an appreciation for his Auburn University engineering education and her love for her hometown, Auburn alumni Raymond and Eleanor Loyd of Louisville, Ky. recently established a $1 million scholarship fund in the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering. The fund provides four-year tuition scholarships, with preference given to students from Eleanor?s hometown of Tallassee, Ala., and surrounding Elmore County. Read full story

Down Memory Lane

One of the stories that I would like to share with you relates to the influence that Auburn engineering has had on my professional life.

By the time I was 8-9 years old I was fascinated by airplanes and knew that I wanted to be an aeronautical engineer. My high school education was slanted toward engineering courses and upon graduation in 1939 I planned to attend Auburn (API) since my father and older brother were Auburn grads. My interest was in aeronautical engineering and Auburn had just become one of the few schools in the country that offered a degree in AE (just in time for me). I was well trained in aeronautics and upon graduation in 1943 was ready to enter the work force.Read full story

In Support of a Vision

As a student as Auburn, Apryl Tarrant Mullins took on a variety of leadership roles that prepared her well for her current role as coordinator of student-young alumni programs with the Auburn Alumni Association. A 1997 graduate with a degree in corporate journalism, Mullins recently stepped into the spotlight again with the creation of a fund for excellence in honor of her parents who had instilled in their daughter the importance of education and hard work. The Bob and Barbara Tarrant Fund for Excellence recognizes their efforts and the potential of the Samuel Ginn College of Engineering. Read full story
