There's no better way to understand what is behind the power grids and communication systems that connect the world, or the design of next-generation robots, than through electrical and computer engineering. Put simply, electrical engineering is the application and control of electricity. Once studied and mastered, these principles can be applied toward generating and distributing electrical power, designing advanced medical imaging and diagnostic equipment and other industry-specific uses. Computer engineering focuses on the design of components used in systems from your everyday smartphone to spacecraft. Auburn University's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering successfully combines these two curricula to form well-rounded graduates who are uniquely qualified to pursue careers in industries as diverse as power distribution, communications and biomedical research.
