NSF Summer 2019 Research Experiences for Undergraduates Program - Applications Live

The National Science Foundation sponsors a program called Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU). REU programs are offered at a variety of universities across the country and internationally each summer. They typically last 8 to 10 weeks and consist of research experience with a group of approximately 10 students.  Each student is associated with a specific research project, where he or she works closely with the faculty and other researchers. Participants are granted stipends, and in many cases, assistance with housing and travel.

Many program applications are now live for Summer 2019. While application deadlines vary, many are due in early to mid-February.

As you'll notice, there are programs at many host universities. The applications will be time consuming, thus your goal should be to select one to three programs (not 10!) so you can prepare customized application materials for each.
