"Old Nancy" 1905-2005

Biosystems Engineering students participate in many organizations on the Auburn Campus. The interdisciplinary nature of our programs means that our students participate in activities in the College of Engineering, the College of Agriculture, and the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences.

Our primary professional society is ASABE, the society for engineering in agricultural, food, and biological systems. The student branch of ASABE at Auburn meets regularly throughout the academic year. Their activities include at least one student picnic in the fall and one in the spring semesters. They participate in the College of Agriculture's Ag Roundup at homecoming by operating their 1905 Case steam tractor, Old Nancy. Springtime activities of ASABE include assisting with the College of Engineering's E-Day and conducting their annual lawnmower clinic fundraising event. Funds raised from the lawnmower clinic are used to support the War Eagle Pullers' 1/4-scale tractor design team.

Biosystems Engineering students also participate in the College of Engineering's Cupola Society, the College of Agriculture's Ag Ambassadors, the Society of American Foresters, and the Forest Products Society.
