Masatoshi Hirabayashi

Masatoshi Hirabayashi HeadshotMy name is Masatoshi Hirabayashi. I am an assistant professor in Department of Aerospace Engineering at Auburn University and a director of Auburn’s Space Technology Application Research (STAR) lab. My expertise is in astronautics and geophysical modeling for small planetary bodies and planetary surface processes. My research area includes theoretical and numerical modeling of engineering and scientific problems in space, applications of such developed techniques to space missions, and planetary sciences.

Currently, I am actively working on exploring the evolution of solar system small bodies, its engineering applications, and planetary surface evolutions. I am also involved in many internationally renowned space exploration missions.

My goal in this lab is to acquire engineering and scientific knowledge and skills for space missions to propose innovative technologies for such space exploration missions, conducting interdisciplinary research.
