Programs and Outcomes

Programs in the College of Engineering at Auburn University are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Engineering Criteria 2000 (EC2000) are the newest criteria for accreditation of engineering programs established by ABET. EC2000 states: "The ABET accreditation process is a voluntary system of accreditation that:

  1. assures that graduates of an accredited program are adequately prepared to enter and continue the practice of engineering;
  2. stimulates the improvement of engineering education;
  3. encourages new and innovative approaches to engineering education; and
  4. identifies these programs to the public."

Auburn University is accredited by The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). The SACS criteria for accreditation include many commonalities with EC2000. Of particular interest is their concern with institutional effectiveness. The Auburn University College of Engineering wholeheartedly embraces the objectives of both the ABET EC2000 and SACS.
