Retention

  1. Encourage greater attention to mentoring of new faculty.
  2. Provide start-up packages that include graduate assistant and equipment support as necessary.
  3. Whenever possible hire into an existing research thrust or priority.
  4. Assign teaching responsibilities to new faculty in such a way as to maximize their opportunities for success.
  5. Cooperate with appropriate organizations to conduct seminars, workshops, programs, and activities that address diversity issues.
  6. Provide resources to new faculty directed at developing skills in teaching and curriculum development.
